Midwest Hellenic Dance Festival

The Midwest Hellenic Dance Festival (MHDF) is dedicated to promoting, preserving, and perpetuating the traditional Greek dances and music of the Hellenic heritage. The Festival is designed to develop an awareness, appreciation, and love for Hellenic culture among Greek Orthodox youth and young adults and to create a greater communion and stronger ties with fellow Greek Orthodox Christians for generations to come.

The first MHDF took place in 2016 with the blessings of Metropolitan Iakovos of blessed memory. Dancers gathered from throughout the Metropolis of Chicago for workshops, performances, and a traditional glendi with live music representing all areas of Greece. The aim of the MHDF is to support every parish of the Metropolis of Chicago to develop a Greek dance program and bring the youth together, both in the parish and in the MHDF, in a unique celebration of the Hellenic heritage and Orthodox faith.
