The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago along with the Friends of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from Peoria hosted a special reception for the Illinois State Senators that sponsored and co-sponsored a major resolution passed earlier this year in the Illinois State Senate supporting the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Following the passage of Illinois State Resolution (SR) 70 on May 31, His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos together with two members of the "Friends of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from Peoria Committee", and three other faithful from the Metropolis of Chicago, made a pilgrimage to Constantinople.

On May 30th, Archbishop Michael Jackels was installed as the 10th archbishop of the 175-year-old Catholic Archdiocese of Dubuque, IA. Fr. Dustin Lyon, priest of St. Elias the Prophet Church in Dubuque, had the honor of representing the Metropolis of Chicago and the Orthodox community at the installation ceremony and Mass.
