Celebrating 40 years of Orthodox Christian Athletic Fellowship this year at the Metropolis of Chicago Junior Olympics!

The Junior Olympics of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago dates back to 1981 and has grown into the largest single gathering youth in the Metropolis, filled with family-friendly activities. From its inception, the Junior Olympics has been hosted by SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Palos Hills, Illinois. The community not only organizes the event, but also shares its facilities with the entire Metropolis to make the Junior Olympics possible.

Each year, thousands of parents, young adults, and children look forward to kicking off the Summer at this Memorial Day Weekend event in order to coach, view, and participate in the festivities. Olympic activities are offered for all age levels, with competition in basketball, swimming, track and field, softball, volleyball, soccer, chess, checkers, backgammon (tavli), ping-pong, & much more. The Junior Olympics aims to live its mission, which is rooted in St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy: "...If anyone competes as an athlete, they do not win the prize unless they compete according to the rules. Remember, therefore Jesus Christ Risen from the dead..."

Due to a backlog of activities, Stagg High School will not be available to us like most years. This means that we will be limited to only offer select team sports and no individual sports. We are hoping that the team sports will afford the majority of participants an opportunity to participate this year.

Each day of the Junior Olympics, participants/parents will be asked to show their prescreened results on the phone at check-in before their games. This form produces an endscreen that shows green for “good to go” and red for “stop”. Please click the button below to access the form.
