2021 GOAL Basketball Season
After much work and deliberation, the GOAL Board has put together a shortened season for GOAL Basketball, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael. This shortened season began March 13, 2021 and will conclude April 18, 2021. On a high level, some of the changes for this COVID-shortened season include:
- Participation: only 7th/8th Boys, 7th-12th Girls, and HS Boys divisions are permitted this season
- No fans, including parents, will be allowed during gameplay (more info on streaming below)
- Masks will be required at all times, including gameplay
While this season will be anything but normal, we are grateful to His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael, our parish clergy, our parish Athletic Directors, and our GOAL Board for making this season possible. We love to have our GOAL parents in the stands; it was a difficult decision to have a no-fan policy. With the pressure, logistics, and work on our parishes already to safely execute services and now GOAL games, we were not comfortable to add the responsibility of checking in and screening even more individuals for each game. Additionally, the added workload to ‘flip’ a gymnasium in between games (more sanitizing, cleaning, etc.) was too much work and cost prohibitive. We look forward to having our fans back in the stands next season.
