About the Retreat:

The primary objective of this retreat is to help good preachers become great preachers. The retreat will include two day-long sessions, one in June and one in August.

The June session will focus on strategies to strengthen your practice of sermon preparation, emphasizing an approach that integrates preaching with the ongoing spiritual life. Additionally, we will discuss biblical and rhetorical foundations for effective preaching. This first session will also include in-depth discussion on how to effectively solicit quality feedback from your hearers to better ensure that the sermon makes possible a transformative encounter with Jesus Christ.

The second session at the end of the summer will be an opportunity for us to come together to reflect on the strategies learned during the first session and to report on the lessons that we have learned by employing the strategies addressed in the first session.

Lodging Information: 

Registrants are responsible for booking their own lodging. A few hotels near the church include: Courtyard by Marriott Chicago, ESTIA Hotel + Suites Glenview, Baymont by Wyndham Glenview, and Renaissance Chicago Glenview Suites Hotel. These are all about 5 miles from the church.
