Back to Servant Leadership Award Recipients

I remember my very first conversation with Ted Abbgy. I was a fill-in priest, looking to complete a Friday service during Great Lent and then head home to my family, but I stuck around because of Ted and what he said to me. After the service, as we spoke about the struggles of his parish, Ted looked at me and said, “Father, I’m not leaving this place. This is my church.” That’s when I knew Ted was someone special; a real pillar of the church. A member at SS. Constantine and Helen since 1994, he has filled many different roles—Sunday School director, newsletter/bulletin editor, maintenance man, church picnic coordinator, chanter, co-chair of the ad book subcommittee, long-standing parish council member, and church secretary. While Ted does all these things well, what stands out is his manner of life, his humility and his love for Christ. This is why we as a parish nominated him.
