Bestowals of the Metropolis Bronze Cross Continue Across Illinois »

His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael traveled across Illinois to bestow the Metropolis Bronze Cross on our exceptional servant leaders from the parishes of All Saints (Peoria), Three Hierarchs (Champaign) and St. Sophia (Elgin). Fr. Michael Constantinides of Saint George (Rock Island) assisted the Metropolitan by bestowing the Bronze Cross on Collette Spurgetis who has since fallen asleep in the Lord. May her memory be eternal.

As a result of COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions prevented, Metropolitan Nathanael decided to bring the Bronze Crosses to the recipients - either by visiting them at their homes or honoring them in their parishes. His Eminence has now made a second trip -- this time, to Missouri and Swansea, Illinois for a second round of bestowals!

"Lighthouse" New Summer Camp for High School Seniors »

Lighthouse is a summer camp ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago designed to walk high school seniors through an Orthodox understanding of vocation, and arm them with the tools they need to hold fast to their faith during their college years. Camp begins this summer on June 26, 2021 at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.

The Bronze Crosses were to have been bestowed on the recipients by the Metropolitan at the Inaugural the Servant Leadership Awards Banquet, scheduled for May 1, 2020. However, the COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions imposed by the State of Illinois prevented that Banquet from being held. The Metropolitan decided to bring the Bronze Cross to them instead - starting with Minnesota!
