With joy, Ascension of Our Lord in Lincolnshire, Illinois, selects devoted parishioner Basil (Bill) Athenson as its Metropolis Bronze Cross recipient. Bill is a beloved founding member of the Ascension parish. Over the decades, Bill has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Holy Greek Orthodox Church. Bill is an example of faith in action. He lives his faith in his personal life as a devoted husband and father, within the life of our parish and Metropolis, and through his professional and community life. As chair of our Construction Committee, Bill devoted countless hours toward the building of our new church home. Whether at home or traveling for his career, Bill has been ever present from construction to Thyranoixia. During his four years as Parish Council president he served with great patience, humility and love. Bill treats everyone with great respect as brothers and sisters in Christ.
